Monday: As a class, we reviewed the three types of verbs (action, linking, and helping). The PowerPoint is attached below. Then, we began reading "Pandora and the Whispering Box" (SB page 60).
Homework: None
Tuesday: As a class, we visited the Book Fair! :) We reread/finished reading "Pandora and the Whispering Box" (SB page 60-62). Then, as a class, we began working on the graphic organizer on page 63 which focuses on the exposition of the story. We completed the Setting row together.
Homework: Finish the graphic organizer on SB page 63 (Character and Conflict rows)
Wednesday: Today, we listened to a recording of Sandra Cisneros' "Eleven." As we were listening, we followed along with the questions in SpringBoard (pages 65-67). Students filled in a guided note sheet about dialogue rules and practiced using sample sentences (See Ms. B. for a copy of the handout). Students finished by writing a dialogue paragraph between the main character of "Eleven" and the teacher, Mrs. Price.
Homework: Finish the dialogue paragraph, if needed. This assignment is based off of SB Writing Prompt page 69. What I changed, specifically, is to make this a conversation between Ms. Price and Rachel and to be 8 lines total (4 for each character).
Thursday: Class Spelling Bee! We also updated Data Folders. Class was shortened due to our 1st quarter Reward Party.
Homework: None. Don't eat too much candy!
Friday: No School! Parent-Teacher Conferences
